As a therapist, I strive to help the client discover Self; learn to listen to their inner compass; and to develop strengths so that they can become more confident and attain the personal change, growth and happiness that they are seeking.

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), I founded Beacon Therapy Associates for two main reasons; one to provide a safe, warm and welcoming environment for people in need of support and two, to create a work environment where therapists are able to find a healthy work/life balance and are able to model health to their clients and family.

I have more than 23 years of experience working with families, children, adolescents, and adults. In addition to my clinical experience, I have managerial experience in community mental health administration, quality control, attainment of national health certification and the start-up/ownership of two mental health companies. I am a Clinical Member of both the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and the American Psychotherapy Association. I am an Approved Supervisor for the State of Minnesota for both the Board of Marriage and Family Therapy and for the Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy; as well as an Approved Supervisor for AAMFT.

I hold a Master of Science degree with honors in Human Development: Family & Child Studies and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology: Human Relations from the University of Central Oklahoma. Additional graduate studies for my license was obtained at Alfred Adler Graduate School in Richfield, MN.

Specialties: Family Systems, Trauma, EMDR, Brainspotting, Neurolinguistics, Emotional Intimacy issues, Depression and Anxiety.

Minnetonka/Wayzata Location

Elizabeth Freund, MS, LMFT

PHONE:  (612) 718-3966

Elizabeth has a strong appreciation for the unexpected twists and turns of parenting, and how they can shape us in ways we never expected.  The life paths of many of our children weren’t even on our radar when we started planning our families, and so our parenting may require us to re-evaluate our values and perspectives.  This can be difficult, confusing work.

A related issue some of us arrive at, is how we got to be the people we are.  We may uncover rules and expectations that did not support our well-being, and that may have lead to anxiety, depression, and even trauma in our lives.  Elizabeth has great respect for the journey of self-discovery both these pursuits require.

Elizabeth offers support for parents of children on the Autism Spectrum, as well as parents of  children that are nonbinary.  She also offers support for people experiencing anxiety and depression, as well as the effects of trauma, using a holistic approach.  Elizabeth is an EMDR therapist, is trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Pragmatic/Experiential Therapy for Couples.  She is also a member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.
